DADDY followed the story of Ramona: a struggling photographer paying her rent with online sex work and her apocalypse prepping nephew Ronald. After tragedy strikes, the two find themselves living in a city full of exotic animal people and befriend the local homeless frog man; Ribbit. The three will have to work together and form the most unlikely of families in order to make ends meet.

Daddy Sold out its Premiere night at the

scotiabank theatre in 2021

despite being effected by the pandemic, the opening

night for the vancouver indie film was able to sell out

the allowed seats per restrictions at the time.

Middle of the Night Productions is proud to announce the opening of “Daddy,” a dramatic Independent Film starring child actor Aias Dalman, Alexander Stonehouse and Shenandoah McSporran. “Daddy” is written, directed and produced by Austin Jamieson.

Daddy is the raw yet moving story of a struggling photographer paying her rent with online sex work while taking care of her recently orphaned, apocalypse-prepping young nephew, Ronald. Ramona and Ronald develop an unlikely friendship with a local homeless frog man and unexpectedly they all become the family they were missing. Daddy is a dramatic, inclusive film written, directed, and produced by 20-year-old Jamieson.

All three main characters in this fantastical tale are manifested from Jamieson’s real-life experiences as a child and young adult. “It’s really that simple, every character is a part of me. When I was a kid I prepped for the apocalypse, when I was a teen, I worked jobs that made me compromise in the service of my work. And as an adult, I lived in the downtown Eastside and became friends with the people.”

Jamieson’s guerrilla-style shot film, delivers laughs, tears, and a look into the perspective of children and their ability to sometimes need to parent those around them.  Middle of the Night Productions is a Vancouver based production company, set on the ideals of quality film making at any level of budget. Started in 2017, now run by Austin Jamieson, Middle of the Night has grown into its own studio/storefront location
